For small trades in Canada — HVAC, plumbing, electrical, cleaning, landscaping — with an Ontario lens. Prices and availability checked November 5, 2026.
If you run a one-truck shop or a small crew in Oakville, Mississauga, or anywhere else in Ontario, the three names that keep showing up are Jobber, Housecall Pro, and FieldPulse. All three cover scheduling, quoting, invoicing, and a mobile app. They are not interchangeable once you care about Canadian tax lines, who can take card payments in Canada, whether QuickBooks Online Canada syncs cleanly, and whether you can see a price without booking a sales call.
This page is a straight comparison from vendor pricing pages, help docs, and partner pages. No invented benchmarks, no fake testimonials.
Quick verdict
| If you are… | Start here | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Solo or tiny crew in Ontario who wants clear list pricing, GST/HST on invoices, and payments that work in Canada | Jobber (usually Connect, not Core) | Edmonton-based vendor; published USD plans; tax groups; Jobber Payments documented for Canada in CAD; QBO sync from Connect |
| Growing residential crew (roughly 3–8 users) that wants routes, GPS, flat-rate pricing, and review tools on the mid tier | Housecall Pro (Essentials or Max) | Strong mid-tier feature bundle; 14-day Max trial; sold in Canada — but USD billing, one tax rate per invoice, and several payment features US-only |
| Established team that wants seat-based quoting, field-only seats, and QBO-driven Canadian dual tax | FieldPulse | Custom quote; documented Canadian dual-tax via QBO; native FieldPulse Payments is US-only (Canada uses Partner Payments) |
Ontario short take: For most HVAC, plumbing, electrical, cleaning, and landscaping shops around the GTA, Jobber is the default shortlist winner because payments and tax groups are documented for Canada and list prices are public. Housecall Pro is a strong runner-up if you live in a single-HST province (Ontario is) and mainly take online card payments. FieldPulse is worth a demo once you have enough techs that field-only seats and a custom package matter more than browsing a price table.
Pricing comparison
Checked November 5, 2026. All three bill primarily in USD. Canadian buyers should expect exchange-rate movement and possible foreign-transaction fees on their card. Subscription prices exclude sales tax where applicable.

Jobber (published list prices, USD)
Four plans: Core, Connect, Grow, Plus. Three billing modes: monthly no commitment, monthly with 1-year commitment, annual prepaid. Extra users: $29/mo each. Page states “All prices in USD.”
| Plan | Users included | Monthly (no commitment) | Monthly (1-yr commitment) | Annual prepaid (shown /mo) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Core | 1 | $49 | $39 | $29 |
| Connect | 1 | $139 | $119 | $99 |
| Connect | 5 | $199 | $169 | $149 |
| Connect | 10 | $299 | $259 | $229 |
| Connect | 15 | $399 | $339 | $299 |
| Grow | 1 | $199 | $169 | $149 |
| Grow | 5 | $299 | $259 | $229 |
| Grow | 10 | $399 | $349 | $299 |
| Grow | 15 | $499 | $429 | $399 |
| Plus | 5 | $499 | $439 | $399 |
| Plus | 10 | $599 | $499 | $449 |
| Plus | 15 | $699 | $599 | $529 |
What’s gated higher (from Jobber’s own feature matrix):
- Core: quotes, invoices, online booking, client hub, basic reporting, website; no QuickBooks Online sync.
- Connect: automated reminders, automatic payments, checklists, quote/invoice follow-ups, QuickBooks Online / Xero sync, time & expenses, routing/GPS (per comparison).
- Grow: richer quotes (visuals, optional line items), job costing, two-way SMS, custom automations, automatic time tracking.
- Plus: crew scheduling, unlimited media library, custom reports, Marketing Suite / Pipeline / AI Receptionist bundled, dedicated onboarding & premium support. Larger Plus configs often go through Contact Sales.
Add-ons (published on pricing page): Marketing Suite $99/mo, AI Receptionist $29/mo, Pipeline $49/mo.
Card processing (rates shown on Jobber pricing; confirm Canadian account rates in settings): online cards 2.9% + 30¢; Tap to Pay 2.7% + 30¢; ACH bank payments 1% (ACH labelled US on the pricing matrix); instant payouts +1%.
Free trial: 14 days on Grow features, no credit card required (Jobber FAQ).
Housecall Pro (published list prices, USD — general / “Other” trade path)
Three plans: Basic, Essentials, Max. Page states prices are in USD and exclusive of sales tax. Interactive wizard; figures below match the commonly published general-trade cards (also cited by independent Canada-focused reviews checking the vendor page in Oct 2026).
| Plan | Users included | Monthly | Annual (shown /mo) | Extra users |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Basic | 1 | $79 | $59 | Not offered / not published for adding seats |
| Essentials | 5 | $189 | $149 | Not published on general cards |
| Max | 8 | $329 | $299 | $35/mo per additional user |
Important pricing caveat: Housecall Pro’s pricing page asks for industry. Third-party verifications in late 2026 reported that HVAC, plumbing, and electrical visitors sometimes see a different, higher team price list (e.g. Teams Essentials / Max figures that do not match the general cards above) and may not see annual rates on that path. Always re-check housecallpro.com/pricing for your trade before budgeting. We do not invent a second unofficial table here.
What’s gated higher (vendor feature cards):
- Basic: online booking, scheduling/dispatch, estimates & invoicing, payments & consumer financing, price book, job costing, review management.
- Essentials: routes, flat-rate pricing, checklist automations, photo reports, employee GPS, commissions, QuickBooks Online sync.
- Max: sales proposal tool, recurring service plans, route optimization, open API / Zapier, dedicated onboarding, escalated phone support.
Payments (vendor FAQ / help): card processing “as low as 2.59%”; bank payments 1% (ACH documented as US-only for businesses based in the U.S.). Many Canada exceptions — see Canada section.
Free trial: 14 days of Max, no credit card required. Vendor says no long-term contract required; cancellation still involves contacting their cancellations team (help centre).
FieldPulse (quote-based; tool rate only)
FieldPulse’s main pricing page does not publish package dollar amounts. It describes seat-based pricing and three packages — Essentials, Professional, Enterprise — then asks for a custom quote. Full-access seats and lower-priced field-only seats are part of the model.
The vendor’s own pricing tool (checked Nov 5, 2026) surfaces:
| Item | Figure shown in tool |
|---|---|
| Field service management platform | $99 per user |
| Annual, paid upfront | 15% discount (tool label) |
| Engage phone system | $125/mo (5 users) + $25 per additional user (reported from tool/third-party reads of the same tool) |
| Other add-ons in tool | Operator AI, Chat AI, Sales Suite, Custom Forms, Fleet Management, Premium Support — prices appear in-tool; treat as quote inputs, not a public plan ladder |
Do not treat third-party “$65 / $90 / $115 per user” estimates as FieldPulse list prices — the vendor does not publish those package rates.
Free trial: None publicly offered. Path is a demo / sales conversation (book demo). Terms of Service (as summarized by independent 2026 teardowns) describe annual terms with auto-renewal; confirm on your order form.

Canada / Ontario section
Sold in Canada?
| Product | Available in Canada? | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Jobber | Yes | Canadian company (Edmonton HQ). Sold widely to Canadian trades. |
| Housecall Pro | Yes | Terms: service for users 18+ in US or Canada. Affiliate rules also limit referrals to US/Canada. |
| FieldPulse | Yes (accounts / QBO Canada docs exist) | Help docs include Canadian dual-tax QBO guidance. Confirm payment processor options for your province during demo. |
Currency & billing
- All three: public marketing prices are USD (Jobber and Housecall Pro say so explicitly; FieldPulse quotes in USD in practice).
- No public CAD subscription price list for Jobber or Housecall Pro web plans. App Store CAD figures (if any) are a different channel — do not mix them with web list prices.
- Ontario buyers: expect GST/HST on the software subscription when your billing address is taxable; Jobber’s help notes sales tax can be added. Treat HST on SaaS as an ITC topic with your bookkeeper — not tax advice.
Payments in Canada
Jobber Payments
- Documented available in Canada with CAD payment integrations.
- Online cards, tips, Tap to Pay in the Jobber app.
- Tap to Pay in Canada: Visa/Mastercard/Amex and mobile wallets; Interac not supported; higher amounts (help notes ~$250) may hit Tap limits.
- Instant payouts available to eligible Canadian users (+1%).
- Canadian card rate card is not published the same way as the US matrix — confirm in Settings → Jobber Payments during trial.
Housecall Pro payments (Canada limits matter)
- Card payments for Canadian accounts: yes.
- Help centre documents as not available in Canada: bank (ACH) payments, card readers, mobile cheque deposit, Automated Sales Tax, Housecall Pro business insurance, Wisetack consumer financing.
- Instapay faster payouts: 1% fee; Canada per-transaction cap lower than US ($10,000 vs $50,000 per independent help-centre reads).
- Interac / e-Transfer inside Housecall Pro: not documented.
- If most of your Oakville jobs still settle by Interac debit on site, budget a separate terminal or e-Transfer workflow.
FieldPulse payments
- FieldPulse Payments (native): help centre — United States businesses only.
- Partner Payments for other setups, including processors such as Card Connect, Bank of America, Fullstack, NMI. Feature set is narrower than native FieldPulse Payments (e.g. Tap to Pay on iPhone called out as FieldPulse Payments–only).
- Ask on the demo which partner processor is offered for Ontario and what the rate schedule is — not published as a Canada consumer rate card.
GST / HST / PST on customer invoices
| Product | Ontario (13% HST) | Provinces with GST + PST/QST |
|---|---|---|
| Jobber | One HST rate works cleanly; tax ID can print on invoices | Tax groups — help centre says each rate can appear separately on quotes/invoices |
| Housecall Pro | One rate per invoice is fine for HST | Only one tax rate per invoice; combine GST+PST into one line if needed — bookkeeping friction |
| FieldPulse | Configurable; with QBO, Canadian dual tax supported | Canadian dual tax via QuickBooks Online documented (tax calculated in QBO, shown on finalized FieldPulse records) |
For a typical Ontario HVAC/plumbing/electrical shop charging 13% HST, all three can be made to work. Jobber’s tax groups still help if you ever invoice into BC or Quebec.
QuickBooks Online Canada
- Jobber: sync documented for Canada and US, from Connect upward. Test GST/HST mapping in trial.
- Housecall Pro: sync from Essentials; setup guide does not clearly document Canadian QBO edition — must test a taxed invoice in trial.
- FieldPulse: QBO integration with explicit Canadian dual tax help article — strongest public documentation of the three for multi-rate Canadian tax when QBO is the tax engine.
French-language support
None of the three prominently document a full French product UI for Quebec crews. Jobber and Housecall Pro document Spanish mobile options. If you have francophone techs or customers, verify language support on a live demo — do not assume.
Best fit by trade (and by crew size)
Solo / owner-operator
- Jobber Core if you only need quotes, schedule, invoices, and online pay — knowing you’ll likely move to Connect the moment you want QuickBooks sync or automation.
- Housecall Pro Basic if reviews + consumer financing messaging matter more than QBO on day one (QBO needs Essentials).
- FieldPulse is usually overkill until you have multiple seats; no self-serve trial.
Small crews (about 2–8 field users)
- Cleaning / landscaping / lawn: Jobber Grow often matches quote visuals, optional add-ons, two-way SMS, and job costing. Housecall Pro Essentials is competitive if routes + GPS + 5 seats in one mid-tier price matter more.
- HVAC / plumbing / electrical (Ontario): Housecall Pro markets hard to these trades — re-check industry-specific pricing on their wizard. Jobber Connect/Grow remains the safer Canada-payments + tax default. FieldPulse fits when you want field-only tech seats and are fine with a sales-led quote.
- Multi-tech install days / crew dispatch: Jobber Plus (crew scheduling) or FieldPulse team packages; Housecall Pro Max for recurring service plans + route optimization.
Who should skip whom
- Skip Housecall Pro as primary if you need Interac hardware in-app, ACH-style bank pull in Canada, or separate GST+PST lines every day.
- Skip FieldPulse if you refuse a sales call and need a published price + 14-day sandbox this week.
- Skip Jobber Core alone if QuickBooks Online Canada sync is non-negotiable on day one — budget Connect.
FAQ
1) Which is cheapest for a solo Ontario tech?
On published monthly, no-commitment list prices: Jobber Core at USD $49/mo beats Housecall Pro Basic at USD $79/mo. FieldPulse has no public solo list price. Cheapest sticker is not always cheapest stack — add QBO needs (Jobber Connect or HCP Essentials) and card processing.
2) Do any of them bill in Canadian dollars?
Not on the public web plan cards we checked (Nov 5, 2026). Jobber and Housecall Pro state USD. FieldPulse quotes are custom (expect USD). CAD may appear in app-store subscriptions or payout currency for payments — confirm in-product; don’t assume subscription = CAD.
3) Can I take Interac debit in the field?
Jobber Tap to Pay: Interac not supported in Canada (Jobber help). Housecall Pro: card readers unavailable in Canada; Interac not documented. FieldPulse: native payments US-only; ask whether your Partner Payments setup supports Interac. Many Ontario shops keep Square/Moneris/Helcim (or e-Transfer) beside the FSM tool.
4) Which handles Ontario HST correctly on invoices?
All three can charge a single 13% HST rate. Jobber also supports tax groups and printing a tax ID. FieldPulse leans on QuickBooks Online for dual-tax provinces. Housecall Pro allows one rate per invoice — fine for Ontario HST, awkward for GST+PST provinces.
5) How long are the trials?
Jobber: 14 days (Grow features). Housecall Pro: 14 days (Max). FieldPulse: no public free trial — request a demo.
6) Is FieldPulse “more expensive” than Jobber?
Unknown from public list prices. FieldPulse’s tool shows about $99/user before package negotiation and annual discount; Jobber’s bundled seat bands can be cheaper or dearer depending on headcount and tier. Compare written quotes for the same seat count and add-ons — never a blog estimate.
